Lisa Soronen, Esq.

As an Attorney of Counsel at Silverpine Law, Ms. Soronen advises employees, companies, and schools regarding discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), wage disputes, and wrongful termination. She also drafts employment agreements, workplace policies, and employee handbooks for HR departments. For nonprofit organizations, she drafts bylaws and other structural documents, handles corporate filings, and provides general compliance advice.
Prior to joining Silverpine Law, Ms. Soronen performed similar employment-related work at Polsinelli LLP, one of the nation’s most elite law firms (ranked in the Am Law 100). Before that, she spent twenty years in DC drafting amicus curiae briefs to be submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of state and local government associations. She developed rare expertise in the highly-specialized area of “school law” and has deep experience advancing the interests of school boards, administrators, and teachers. 
Ms. Soronen earned her law degree magna cum laude (top 10%) at the University of Wisconsin, which resulted in her selection for a year-long judicial clerkship on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Her undergraduate degree was in business administration and accounting. 

Ms. Soronen is a member of the bar in Wisconsin, admission to DC and Virginia pending. She has devoted hundreds of hours to volunteer work in recent years, representing at-risk children in custody and placement disputes in DC courts as a guardian ad litem
